Eastbound

This overhead sign marks the beginning of Interstate 140 East, 1/2 mile from the junction of Interstate 40 / Interstate 75 in Knoxville. However, most sources state that I-140 doesn't begin until it reaches the junction of I-40 / I-75. I covered the 1/2 mile between here and there for the purpose of being thorough. As evidenced here, plans exist to extend TN 162 South (Pellissippi Pkwy) another 4.5 miles to US 321. While this extension has been met with a lot of controversy, TNDOT does appear to be moving forward with the plans in the near future. (Photo taken 12/5/20).
